Susan Miller – Mixed Media – The Purple Pomegranate

The Purple Pomegranate, a fine craft specialty store, is featuring work by Kalispell artist, Susan Miller during the month of August. Susan is a mixed media artist who creates art out of recycled items including piano ivories, forks and spoons, postage stamps and old china pieces.

Susan started creating Stained Glass in 1981. It has evolved into creating jewelry, frames and mirrors using stained glass techniques in an non-traditional way. With an abundance of scraps and always being a true recycler Susan became interested in Mosaics. She has worked in mosaics as small as a ring and as large as the exterior of a clawfoot bathtub! In recent years, painting furniture has been added , and most recently using the excess Piano Ivories her Piano Tuning/Technician husband has to create jewelry, frames and mirrors.
