Jane Kleinschmidt – The Purple Pomegranate – June

The Purple Pomegranate, a fine craft specialty store, is featuring work by Whitefish artist, Jane Kleinschmidt during the month of June. Working as a graphic designer in Whitefish, Jane divides her time between fine art and graphics. Capturing the character of a portrait is her ultimate goal. Jane uses pastel in the studio when she create portraits from her photographs. She strives to create the mood and the expressions of pets and people in her artwork.

More recently, Jane has started creating scenes and paintings on glassware. For the glass painting, Jane uses a low fired enamel paint. It is durable, however, she does suggest hand washing the painted glassware. Since the paint dribbles and swirls on the glass, it makes fun mountain, water and flower designs. The 2010 Humane Society Calendar for the Northwest Humane Society features 13 of Jane’s pastel illustrations. These images were donated to benefit the Humane Society. In August 2007 Jane was an “Artist in Residence” for the Artist Wilderness Connection. In December 2004, the City of Whitefish chose Jane’s design “The Skier” for its Centennial Coin, first minting, honoring Whitefish’s outdoor recreation.

The opening of Jane’s work will be during Whitefish Gallery Night, Thursday, June 4th, 2015 from 6-9 PM. Jane’s work will be displayed during the opening and throughout the month of June.
