Wolf by Kristin Murphy JHebert

Kristen Murphy Hebert made Whitefish, Montana her home about sixteen years ago when a friend told her it was paradise. She was raised in New York then moved to Vermont where she received her degree in fine art. She loves the outdoors and spends much of her free time taking advantage of the activities and sights that Montana has to offer. She enjoys skiing, hiking, biking, and paddling. Most recently, she has been enjoying every possible moment with her family, sharing her passions with her children while obtaining a degree in Elementary Education.

As an artist, Kristen finds much of her inspiration in the color and character of the incredible natural world. She works with a bold and brilliantly colorful palette. Vibrant flowers and spirited animals inhabit many of her pieces. The depiction of the natural world in Kristen’s work is developed with a fantasy-like quality in order to revoke a response. Acrylic paint is her media of choice; she also enjoys working with colored pencils and experimenting with pastels.

Kristen was a featured artist in Volume I, Issue II of The Whitefish Review.  A compilation of Kristen’s work has been presented at Stillwater Gallery of Whitefish in ‘Watchers of the World’.    Her work was part of ‘Where the Buffalo Roamed’, a fundraiser for Stumptown Art Studio in Whitefish. Kristen’s work has also been included in ‘Miniatures and More’ and ‘The Horse in Flathead Valley Collections’ at the Hockaday Museum of Art in Kalispell, Montana. In 2002 she was a bear artist for ‘The Great Bear Affair’ fundraiser in the Flathead Valley. Kristen has also been featured in several other exhibitions around Whitefish and in Vermont.

We Welcome you to join us for an opening reception of Kristin’s work at Chill Clothing Co in Whitefish on July 3 from 6-9 pm.
